We think you can take astrology seriously as a language for self-reflection and still be honest about what it is. This page explains exactly how a Laninest reading is made — and what we refuse to do with it.
Astrology is a mirror, not a machine.
Astrology is not scientifically proven, and we will not pretend otherwise. What it offers is a structured, unusually rich vocabulary for looking at your own patterns — the kind of framework that makes you notice something you already half-knew. Plenty of people find that genuinely useful. That is the claim we make, and the only one.
What we can be rigorous about is the calculation. The positions in your chart are real astronomy, computed from a real moment. The interpretation is a craft built on centuries of practice. We keep those two things clearly separated, and we tell you which is which.
Four steps, in order
Your birth date, time and place fix a single moment and a single vantage point. From those we take the positions of the Sun, Moon and planets along the ecliptic — the same positions an astronomer would calculate.
Western tropical astrology with Placidus houses by default. Your birth time sets the Ascendant and the house cusps, which is why an exact time unlocks so much more of the reading.
We read those placements through both traditional and modern Western practice — sign, house, ruler, and the aspects between them — and weigh them against each other rather than reciting them one by one.
A reading is only useful if it sounds like it was written for a specific person. We write in plain language, we prefer the specific to the mystical, and we would rather say something falsifiable than something flattering.
Advanced settings let you switch house systems, and our astrologers note their own methods on their profiles.
The lines we don’t cross
Astrology is not medicine. If something about your health worries you, please see a doctor — we will never position a chart as a second opinion.
No investment timing, no financial forecasts, no market astrology. A chart cannot know your balance sheet.
No warnings you have to pay to see, no cursed transits, no manufactured urgency. Locked sections are labelled and priced honestly.
Not to advertisers, not to data brokers, not to partners. It exists to calculate your chart and nothing else.
The three sections below are plain-language summaries written so you can actually understand them. They describe how we intend to operate, but they are not the full legal documents and do not replace them. Final privacy and terms documents will be published, reviewed by a lawyer, before we take a single payment.
Your birth data, plainly
Your birth details exist for one purpose: to calculate your chart. They are encrypted, never sold, never rented, and never shared with advertisers or data brokers.
What we store
Your name, birth date, birth time if you provide one, birth place, and — only if you give it — your email address. Right now, before accounts exist, that profile lives in your own browser’s local storage on this device and has not been transmitted anywhere.
Deleting everything
You can export or permanently erase your profile at any time from your dashboard. Deletion is immediate and irreversible — we do not keep a shadow copy, and there is no thirty-day grace period during which we quietly retain it.
You choose what arrives: daily guidance, weekly forecasts, or nothing but receipts. Every email carries a working one-click unsubscribe.
What you’re agreeing to
Laninest sells astrological readings and consultations for personal reflection. You must be 18 or older to purchase.
One-time reports
Reports are exactly what they sound like: one payment, one report, yours to keep. There is no subscription hidden inside a report purchase.
Membership
The Celestial Membership is opt-in only. It is cancellable in two clicks from your dashboard, effective immediately, with no retention flow designed to wear you down.
Refunds and rescheduling
If a report misses the mark, tell us within 14 days and we will refund it. Live consultations can be rescheduled up to 12 hours before they start, and are refunded in full if an astrologer cancels.
Pricing
Every price is published on the pricing page. You will never hit a paywall in the middle of a reading you thought you had already paid for.

Laninest is provided for reflection and self-inquiry. It is not medical, legal, psychological, or financial advice, and nothing in a reading should be used to make a decision that belongs with a qualified professional.
Astrology is not a scientifically validated predictive system. Readings describe patterns and tendencies as one interpretive tradition understands them — they do not determine your future, and no placement in your chart obliges you to anything.
